5 Things to Remember When Booking Your Newborn Photographer | Red Deer Newborn Photographer

As a Red Deer Newborn Photographer, here is a little reminder for booking your newborn photographer.

Having a new addition to your family is an amazing and memorable experience; an event that requires being captured for the coming years. Just as wedding photography gives you a plethora of memories to revisit whenever you wish; carrying out a photo-shoot with your newborn baby can do the same. However, when choosing a Red Deer newborn photographer for your newborn’s photo-shoot, it is essential that you keep a strict check on the timing requirements and the kind of photographer you will be working with. In this article, I have listed five things that you need to keep in mind when looking for the right photographer.

Experience

The first thing that you need to consider when choosing your newborn photographer is the kind of experience that the person has. It is not a good idea to book a photographer that is known to specialize in other areas of photography, with little to no newborn portfolio. This is because you need one who has sufficient experience in dealing with newborns. Ask the photographer about how much experience they hold regarding newborn photography and make your decision based on this very important information.

Style

Whether you want a natural, posed or even a candid newborn photo-shoot, it is important to find out if the photographer under consideration is comfortable with that particular style. Choose a style beforehand for your photography session and ask the photographer for their thoughts. It is necessary that both the photographer and you should be comfortable throughout the session.

Timing

A lot of photographers need to be booked way before the actual day of the photo-shoot. Hence, we recommend you to start looking for one as early as possible during your pregnancy. Talk about the booking requirements with the photographer under consideration and also ask them how long the photography session would take. For example, I am booking about 4 months ahead of time!

Safety, Certification & Registration

This to me is the most important aspect of choosing your newborn photographer. There is a lot of different poses that require much knowledge of the newborn body and their very delicate bones. Ask: Is your photographer trained and certified in newborn safety?  If the the answer is no, ask yourself if that photographer is qualified to handle your newborn. Just as importantly, is your photographer a registered business? Again, if your answer is no, odds are they don't have insurance that covers handling a newborn or running a business.

Venue & Other Requirements

Another important consideration is the venue and whether the siblings or parents would be expected to be a part of the photo-shoot. Some photographers carry out the session in your house while others require you to come to their studio. (See our 2nd tip on style). If the photographer suggests adding the siblings in one or two photographs, you should prepare for it beforehand.

Carrying out a successful photo-shoot with your newborn will give you beautiful moments that you can visit later whenever you wish. So before your little one comes into this world, book your newborn photographer to capture those fleeting, precious moments and remember to take into consideration all the points mentioned above to enjoy the best photography services available.
